Last Friday, I stopped by the Goodwill Outlet on Lanark in Van Nuys. It’s a bulk bin kind of place that’s very high-stakes for resellers of clothing. It’s a cutthroat environment when the new bins come out. Luckily it’s pretty laidback for purchasers of books and records like myself. I rarely find good stuff, but this Friday was different.
I picked up some private-press banjo releases, a Donna Summers 12-inch, and a bunch of Tejano records in not-so-great condition. I’m happy to buy them for less than a dollar to make sure they don’t end up in the trash can. Here’s a video of the haul.
The most interesting find came from a now defunct Colombian grocery store chain called Almacenes Ley. It was a compilation released in 1975 which features salsa, latin jazz and the The Doobie Brothers. I particularly liked this song.
As a Paid Subscriber you have access to a .Zip that I ripped of the ALMACENES LEY 1975 album. It’s just below the paywall.
